Full Circle is celebrating their 20th year anniversary this year with amazing and captivating events around Vancouver since Feb 19, to March 2, 2013. SCN joined Full Circle at the Round House Community Centre in Yaletown to experience our first ever pow wow!
In one word, it was completely captivating!
Surrounded by drums, singing, gorgeous regalia and talented artists, SCN was enthralled and excited to be apart and share such a unique and rich cultural event.
This year’s theme, “The Land Does Not Belong to Us, We Belong to the
Land,” was chosen to celebrate the environment and the great beauty
that surrounds us in nature.
The theme reminds us of the struggles and
strengths we have as Native people with land use, as well as how we can
use Native practices and ideology to create a more sustainable
environment for future generations.
Today, we invite you to celebrate the strength of American Indian and
Alaska Native communities by acknowledging our indigenous ways of
embracing the environment and recognizing our capacity to affect
global change. Miigwech! A’hee’hee! (Thank You!)
