The upcoming Vancouver Fashion Week Fall / Winter 2015
season will begin with the Opening Gala on the night of
March 16th, where guests will be treated to a night of
sensory indulgence that will include music, performances
and a sneak preview of the designer collections.

This event kicks off the week in style, creating local buzz
and steering all attention towards the highly anticipated
runway shows. The lineup of hand-picked talent from all
across Canada, and around the world, will showcase their
designs over the week of March 17th to 22nd, 2015.

#SOCIALintheCITY // VANCOUVER FASHION WEEK is a diverse and innovative fashion experience that features both established and emerging designers. It is the fastest growing fashion week in the world and the only industry event that actively seeks out to showcase international award winning designers from over 25 global fashion capitals.

This bi-annual seven day event has the attendance of over 25,000 guests, including industry professionals, buyers, media, and VIPs. VFW has built an international presence through worldwide and local media coverage on sites such as CBC, Metro, The Province,, and Hunan TV, and provides exposure for designers in publications such as VOGUE, Glamour, and FLARE, magazines. Through the use of social media channels, our VFW staff generates excitement and awareness among the online communities for our events, fashion shows, designers, and sponsors. Hailed as an opportunity unlike any other in North America, we invite you to attend our Fall / Winter 2015 season, from March 16th to 22nd, to experience the discovery of our world’s future leaders in fashion.

Vancouver Fashion Week to pave the way for emerging local designers // Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW) is excited to announce two new partnerships with Vancouver based not for profit organizations, Metro Show and LocoBC. The partnerships will provide a platform for Vancouver fashion Week’s international and local designers to present their designs to sales representatives and encourage fashionistas to shop our local retailers.

The Metro Show’s Designer Launch Pad program will make its debut at VFW on March 20 (9.50am – 3.50pm) at the Queen Elizabeth Plaza. Created to introduce emerging designers to sales representatives, VFW designers with market ready collections ready will be given the opportunity to present their brands to Vancouver-based sales reps. If the reps like what they see, the designers will have their collections presented to retail buyers during the SS16 sales season.

Designers that are just starting out will be invited to attend a wholesaling workshop to prepare them for sales and showing at next season’s edition of Designer Launch Pad. Sarah Murray, co-director of Designer Launch Pad said, “partnering with Vancouver Fashion Week makes a lot of sense for Designer Launch Pad. Seeing international brands is a great draw for the sales representatives. For the designers, finding a rep ensures the presence they kickstarted with showing at VFW is maintained long after they return home.”

The Loco BC ( partnership will support four BC based designers on the runway. On March 20 Allison Wonderland, Aniimiism, Eliza Faulkner and Sofia Clothing will showcase their Made in Canada collections. Prior to the shows, each designer will experience a local assessment to highlight the extent of their local supply chain. At the Queen Elizabeth Plaza, Loco BC will hand out postcards highlighting the BC and Canadian designers on the runway and the local retailers where you can buy the product. They will also be taking “Show Us Your Local” pictures of guests wearing locally designed product. Each person photographed will be entered to win a local designer prize pack featuring product and gift certificates from the four Loco BC designers.

Jamal Abdourahman, producer and founder of VFW, is dedicated to providing emerging designers with a stage to promote and sell their product. “I aim to offer myself as an advocate for new and emerging local designers, as they are the future of Vancouver, and Canada’s fashion and design Industry. It is for this reason I am delighted to be partnering with Metro Show’s Designer Launch Pad and Loco BC.“With Vancouver Fashion Week, I wanted to provide more than a stage to present local designers, but also help them make connections with the relevant industry professionals that will ultimately boost their careers. We are very fortunate to have such creative talent on our doorstep and it’s my ambition to make sure they are provided every opportunity possible.”
