Top Moment 1: Morning Meditation Hike
Suffering from a bad bout of indecision about how to spend my very first full morning at Wanderlust, I decided to ditch the yin class I’d signed up for and find a way to get outdoors. I ended up choosing what became one of my favourite classes during Wanderlust. For the Morning Meditation Hike, we met Garth Stevenson at the trailhead. Garth arrived a quiet but looming presence with his large upright bass strapped to him like a backpack and we took off into the woods. After a 20 minute walk, we ended up at a large rocky area surrounded by trees. We plunked down and settled as Garth unpacked his bass, a looping pedal, and a small portable speaker and got set up. What followed was 40 minutes of beautiful, improvised music inspired by the nature around us, as the sounds of Garth’s bass settled in between the rustling of wind in trees, birds singing, and the gentle padding of runners on the path below. It was so beautiful and a perfect way to set good intentions for the day ahead.
The event of the evening was a mysterious party in the woods hosted by Lululemon. We arrived outside the Whistler lululemon to check in before boarding a shuttle to our mysterious location. We arrived at a party which felt like a summer soiree so grand it easily could have passed for a wedding reception. Under trees connected by strings of twinkling lights, we drank kombucha and gin cocktails, enjoyed a delicious catered dinner by Bearfoot Bistro, indulged in artisanal marshmallows hand-torched into smores by Archimallows, and danced the night away under the stars.
